Message With the stock manifold the rear two cylinders get more air than the forward 4 because of the velocity of air in the plenum. This makes the rear two cylinders the leanest, and the limiting factors for the whole engine. You even out flow and all the cylinders will be running the same and you can tune closer to the edge. Also the engine will run smoother because all the cylinders will be firing the same.

It's a little bit marginal gains, but when you're to the level of wanting a custom plenum like that, you're looking for those marginal gains to get ahead.
